Color

I really like the use of color for this website.  I like how the designer used the red for some of the navigation.  It breaks up the navigation from being the same all over. Also, i like how the red bleeds up into the navigation bar.  It adds a little bit more to the website but does not over do it. The use of color is done very well for this website.

Strong Color Scheme

I really like the layout of this website. The color scheme is really strong.  I like how the colors are used to break up the text.  Also, i like the background image.  It fits nicely with the color scheme and i think it is a really good contrast between the background and the black wrapper. 

Oakley

This is also a good layout for a website on an iphone.  It has the categories that you can search in.  Also, there is a way to search for a specific product or type of product.  I like how at the bottom you can change what country the site is on.  Lastly the slideshow of the pictures is strong because it shows some of the products that are available. 

Amazon

This is an image of amazon website on an iphone.  I like this becuase it includes possible options for you.  If it is not the right person you can easily sign out.  Also, There is a way to search for something specific or you can search by department.  The layout is very effective for being on such a small screen. 

Carol Rivello

I like this website.  The design elements are intriguing.  Also, I like the twitter icon.  She chose to use the bird.  That is different from most people.  I think there is a lot more that could be done with it but this is a good start.  I like the details around the bird as well. The home page is very simple which i think is a better way of doing it.  I do not think you should start a website out with a bunch of crap on the front page.  Let the viewer know what they are looking at before things get to crazy.

Strong Layouts

This is a strong layout.  I really like the navigation.  It is very unique.  It stands out.  I like how the headline type is a gradient similar to the background.  Also, the bubbles at the bottom are good places for extra information.  It seems like it would be very well organized.

Bad Site

There is way to much going on in this website.  The background is interesting but it should not be a background for a website.  It might work if the type and other boxes on the website were more different then the background.  You kind of get lost in the site.  There are a lot of colors and It seems unorganized.

Shitty Layout

What a shitty website.  The backgroud is awful.  There is way to much going on.  Also, you can barely read the type.  The yellow is an eye sore.  The red is difficult in the picture box.  The layout seems unfinished.

Susan Lenz

I thought Susan’s border for her website was interesting.  It had buttons on the left and rights sides and the top was some sort of cloth with a triangular pattern on it.   It was white.  She had good typography, and everything was easy to follow.  There was a lot of information about her and her work which I like because I think it gives you an idea of what the artist is interested in.  This way you can better know the thoughts behind her work. I am not a huge fan of the white background.  i think white is a boring color unless used correctly.  I have seen worse.  I think she could have made the navigation a little bigger as well. 

Drinks

This is a a strong website. I like how there are the different colors that describe the type of drink.  Also, The pictures of each drink is done very well.  It would be better if it was in english so i could understand it.  I think it is in German. Also, the graphic work is done well.

Notebook Website

I really like the layout of this website.  The theme is a good theme.  I get the feeling of a notebook of some sort.  This could be used for so many things.  A notebook can be used for many different things.  I think the hands could be used well also.  I am not sure how it could be used but i am sure there is something that could be done

Lisa Kokin

This is a strong website.  The only thing I do not like is the background.  I hate white backgrounds.  They are so boring.  If there are is only a small amount of white it is not so bad.  It starts of with a bang.  One of the first things i noticed was the art at the top.  It is huge and really stands out.  Also, she has a lot of information on her website.  She has different works, pricing, and a little about her.  Her footer area is organized really well.  You can get on her mailing list, her studio location is right there with a map (which is convenient.  Also, you can look at different galleries she is a part of and learn some things about art all from her website.

Daniel Essig

I like his website a lot.  The header shows a bunch of his work.  I like that because you can already get an idea of his type of art.  It interested me almost immediately.  Also, there are a lot of links to go to on his navigation.  His website was easy to navigate through.  I like how when you take you mouse over the links they would drop down with more options.  I like websites that do that.  They are well organized.

Ellie Brown

This website is awful.  The background clashes with the type.  It was very lacking. The typography is horrid.  You might like it though.  There is barely any variation. One thing I liked was how when you moved the mouse over the navigation tab the possible options to go under the navigation popped up below. 

Frank Turek

This is a good website.  It is easy to navigate through.  It starts off strong because his homepage contains a sample of his work at the very top.  You could cycle through certain pieces.  His navigation links were unique.  The links were located at the bottom of the navigation bar, where as i think they should be in the center.  His typography could use some work. His gallery page was really strong.  It had four columns, two images in each column.  One image was the inside of a book he has created and the picture next to it was the cover of his book. 

Shutter Island

This is a great website layout.  the typography is done very well.  There are very few fonts.  The designer uses color and size to make the same fonts appear different.  Also, the background is phenomenal.  The island is where the whole movie takes place and the picture of the face is the main character.  His name is above the title of the movie.  Also, the background is very dark and gloomy which is an accurate feel of the movie.  There is even a critique of the movie.  This was done very well.

Layouts

This website has some good and bad points to it. I like the main layout of everything.  There are videos which can show what your website is about or samples of your work.  The two boxes on the very left at the bottom leaves room for good content. However, the four boxes at the bottom would look better if they were all the same size.  It looks awkward with having two different sizes.  Also, I am not sure if the red outline is supposed to be there or if it is to just show the box.  The red outlines should not be used to create a border.  

Amazon

I think that Amazon has a strong layout for their website.  Everything is easy to find.  The login area is one of the first options that i se.  Once logged in it is easy to navigate around your page.  Also, around the page they have deals and sales that you can look into.  It flows so easily.  This relates to what we are doing in class because we need our websites to flow and easily accessible.

Repeating Layout

I really like the idea of a repeated form in design layouts, however I think this one could have been done a litter better.  It is great how the second box back has two different pictures from the first.  I think color would be a good way to make things stand out so this repeating them could be stronger.  This relates to what we are doing in class because we need to know how to use techniques like this in our work to make our own designs stronger. 

Sweet Layout

I like the idea of this website. The spacing is strong.  I think the color scheme is a little weak.  It is very bland.  It would be good to use brighter colors for type and other certain areas. It would add some pizazz to it.  Also, I like how each different option shows heirarchy.  This relates to what we are doing in class because we need to think of good ways to signify correct heirarchy. 

The Surf Zone

This website has some good aspects to it.  For example, the color scheme works well.  It is not out there.  The colors are simple and the text is easy to read on the background.  The possible links that one can go to make sense.  There is news about the team, information about the website and videos and pictures.  This relates to what we are doing in class because this is similar to what we need to do for a website:good color scheme, well-placed links and a strong layout. 

Recipes

I really like this as a background for a recipe website.  The navigation could be held in the roller or the header could be in the roller.  The content could be held on the index cards.  Some pictures could be placed around the cards.  This relates to what we are doing in class because we need to be able to work in backgrounds like this to our websites. 

Wiz khalifa Website

This is Wiz Khalifa's actual website homepage.  It is  a good layout.  At the very top of the page is something new that has been done, whether it is a new video or a new single.  Below that is the navigation.  I like how the navigation is broken up.  It is in two columns with three possible tabs in each column.  Then there are products that you can buy from the store.  At the bottom is the community section.  It is all about the community of Wiz Khalifa.  It includes his fans, fan's artwork, and possible discussions that can be had.  I have never seen a section based solely on the community on the homepage.  I think that is a good idea.  This relates to what we are doing in class because we should think about different ideas that make our website stand out like this one does.

Wiz Khalifa Pre Website

After i typed in Wiz Khalifa website into google and clicked is website this is the first thing that popped up.  This is interesting because  I have not seen this on a website.  I like it because it shows that he cares about his fans.  It shows how easily you can do it as well.

Chocolate Clothing

I think this is a good layout for a website.  The social networking icons are towards the top of the page which is different from most websites.  Also the bottom has the usual options plus the different credit cards they take.  I do think the name could use some work however. 

Finish Line

This is a really strong layout for a website.  There are so many different options of what you could look at but it is not to much.  Some websites can make a lot of options look like there are too many option and some like this site looks good.  I like how the Stand out box has images of different products and that is is a slideshow with different products. Also, I like how the different brands are close to the middle of the page as more options.  On the left side, the navigation is broken up by the most popular.  I really like the layout of this website.  It relates to what we are doing in class because we need to create a website and should know how to successfully place all the different items on our website.

Model Website

This is a good website.  I like the navigation bar.  The pointy object pointing down adds to the layout.  It is a small detail but makes it look interesting.  Also, the possible links one could go to make sense.  She is a model so show what she has modeled.  A gallery is smart. Secondly she has a  "my experience" link.  It shows previous work.  The top part is an introduction to her wep page.  This relates to what we are doing in class because we our creating our own website and need to know how to add good, strong details.

Bad Layout

This is not a good websight.  The light blue background is awful.  The tab colors do not go with the blue.  Also, it is too bear in the middle area.  If there is going to be this ugly ass background, at least put more onto it so it is less visible.  This relates to what we are doing in class because this is a prime example of what not to do. 

Richard's Website

I like the colors of this website.  The yellow on the black background really stands out.  It is not too bright of a yellow which is good.  This relates to what we are dong in class because we need to know what colros worl well together and what colors do not look good together. 

Grafpedia

This is a strong layout.  The navigation has strong tabs.  There are multiple different areas to go.  You can look at different work they have done or buy it.  Also, I like how there is a blog that you can look at.  It is a good way to see what other people have to say.  I like how it has some of the services that are possibe and there is the tab in the navigation bar.  Also, there are the special offers which always interest a person. This relateds to what we are doing in class because we need to know how to create a succesful layout like this layout is. 

Adventures

I like the idea of this website.  I love going on adventures.  It is awesome that someone made a website of theirs.  Hopefully they are actually good websites.  I really like the background.  It is a perfect fit.  Adventures almost always involve traveling somewhere.  One thing that could be changed is how everything that is on the homepage is in a rectangle in the center.  I think this is very typical and boring.  It would be better if the eye had to travel. It would have been good if it was more spread out but on an opaque background to still see the map background.  This relates to what we are doing in class because we are creating websites. 

TRS

I like the layout of this site.  The navigation is very interesting. I can see movement when I look at it.  I do think it is too simple.  It feels like it's missing something.  I think if there was some color added to the white area it could add something to the website.  This relates to what we are doing in class because we need to pay attention to the details of websites such as our own website. 

Cool Finds

First, I think this is an interesting website.  There is a lot going on and it looks messy which is not good.  However, I do like that there are two sale alerts in the middle of the page.  It is right above the products that are being sold.  It is well placed.  This relatres to what we are doing in class because we need to know what to do and what not to do on a website.  This is a good example of what not to do, for the most part. 

Baked Goodies

This is a really strong homepage for a website.  I really like the layout of most of the information on here.  The three pictures at the top show the talent that the bakery has.  It is already starting off good.  The circels towards the middle of the page are eye catching.  There are so many options for doing stuff on here.  There is a ton of information on here but it is not overwhelming.  This relates to class because All of these factors play a part in what we are doing, creating a website.

Wino

I really like the image on this layout.  It captured my attention right away.  This relates to what we are doing in class because we need to look at different possible backgrounds to use for our own websites. 

Layout

This is a cool layout for a website.  I really like the location of the navigation.  I feel like it is very different from the usual places.  Also, the way it goes around the name of the site.  I also, like the location of the sign in bars and how it has information around them.  It is well organized.  This relates to what we are doing in class because we are making our own websites and have to consider the layout options. 

Hobbies

There are millions of hobbies in the world.  One of them being art.  This is a website for all kinds of art.  This webstite has a great navigation.  It shows different styles, different artists, collections of art and art you can buy.  This is a good website for art.  This relates to what we are doing in class because we have to create a home page for a website that has to do with a hobby. 

Polo Ralph Lauren

Polo Ralph Lauren is a huge brand of clothing.  Most of the clothes are a classier clothing.  It is one of my favorite brands.  This relates to what we are doing in class because we are creating our own home page for a commercial site and this would be included in that.  I like this site becuase it is easy to understand and I like how the navigation is broken up into the different categories.  For examplem, they have men, women, kids, baby, home and sale.  It is very easy to understand and navigate my way through the site.  Essentially it is easier to spend money now.

Kendrick Lamar

Every musician has a website.  And if they don't they need to get one.  It is such a good way to get your music, information about tour dates and tickets etc out into the open.  This relates to what we are doing in class because we have to create a music website for class.  I like this website because he is my favorite artist and I like hearing his songs and finding out new information about him.  Also websites can show interviews between artists and other artists or interviewers.  Again you can learn so much information from that.

CSS

This is a css website.  I really liked this website because the layout had a lot of information and different areas i could go to; however it was very clearly explained what it was once I put my mouse over it.  Also, as i would scroll down, the "second page" over lapped the first page which I have never seen before.   It was awesome.  This relates to what we are doing in class because we learned some information about css websites and what they are like.  I really enjoyed this website.

Feed Stitch

Feed stitch is a website where you can combine all your like feeds into one common genre.  This is a great example of a two column website.  The header is at the top.  There are two columns with information.  At the bottom there is the copyright and feedback section.  This relates to what we are oing in class because we learned how to make a two column web page layout. 
 

Miles Enterprises, Inc.

This is the logo for Miles Enterprises.  It is my dad's custom cabinetry company.  This is the picture on the webpage.  The black continues down and there are three categories to choose from: Portfolio, contacts, and company history. I like this web page design because it is simple and it clearly shows the options that you have.  The colors of the options are yellow which goes well with the rest of the colors.  Also, the description of the work that they do is in red which goes back to the red in the logo.  This is a successfully done web site.
